El maestro Wilson Quintero, nació en El Cocuy (Boyacá – Colombia) el 24 de junio del año 1953, del hogar de sus padres: Marco Antonio Quintero Vergara y María Teresa Quintana Silva. Tiene 5 hermanos y está Casado con Daissy Yaneth Campos Matiz, con quien actualmente tiene tres hijos y dos nietos.

A la edad de 11 años se vinculó a la banda de música juvenil de un colegio Distrital en Bogotá y a los 13 años de edad realizó estudios de música y armonía con énfasis en la guitarra y la trompeta. A la edad de 17 años compuso sus dos primeras canciones: “Por ti” y “Cuando un amor se va”, grabadas por el sello Orbe.

En el año 1980 se vinculó al grupo Viva la Gente de Colombia como director de orquesta y estuvo allí por 12 años. Compuso la canción “El Alfarero” para acompañar a su Santidad Juan Pablo II durante la visita realizada a Colombia en el año de 1986 con ocasión del encuentro multitudinario con los trabajadores de Colombia realizado en el Parque el Tunal el 3 de julio de 1986.

Es autor y compositor de 60 canciones, 25 de las cuales han sido grabadas por diferentes intérpretes. El consejo directivo de la sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Colombia, SAYCO, mediante resolución del 10 de octubre de 2103 aprobó su vinculación como socio bajo el No. 7575.

11. Mujer (pasillo)
12. Nochecita cocuyana (bolero)
13. La casa de los molinos (bambuco)
14. Pequeña mía (bolero)
15. El viejo pino (pasillo).
16. Un nuevo día (balada)
17. Te deseo amor (balada)
18. Atardecer Caribe (paseo vallenato)
19. Bailar contigo (paseo vallenato)
20. Si (bolero)

Ha dirigido las siguientes producciones musicales:

1) Año 1984, para el grupo musical Viva la Gente de Colombia.
2) Año 1986, grabaciones de canciones con el Grupo Viva la Gente de Colombia para la visita de Juan Pablo II a Colombia.
3) Año 1992, para la Corporación de Cultura y Turismo de Cundinamarca.
4) Año 2001, para el Fondo de Empleados del Banco Cafetero “Lo nuestro”.
5) Año 2005, para el Fondo de Empleados del Banco Cafetero (Artista Luis Javier).
6) Año 2009, para la Asociación de Amigos de El Cocuy (“Así es tu pueblo” Volumen 1).  
7) Año 2010, para el grupo Viva la Gente de Colombia “Historia Musical”.
8) Año 2011, recopilación de la obra musical de Wilson Quintero Quintana “Vivir y cantar a mi manera”.
9) Año 2012, para la Fundación Blanco y Verde de El Cocuy (“Así es tu pueblo Volumen 2”).
10) Año 2014, para la Fundación Blanco y Verde de El Cocuy (“El viejo pino – Así es tu pueblo Volumen 3”).
